Curso de Control de Animales /
Investigación de Crueldad

Se ofrecerá este curso unica en Puerto Rico. El mismo ha sido diseñado para enfrentar los problemas particulares de control y protección de los animales en Puerto Rico y ha sido aprobado por el Departamento de Salud de Puerto Rico. Es una colaboración entre Career Development Istuitute, Amigos de los Animales y la Universidad Interamericana.

El Career Development Institute, ubicado en el Estado de Nueva Jersey, ha entrenado y ha certificado a miles de Oficiales en Control Animal e Investigadores en Crueldad Animal en EEUU.

¿Quién debe asistir? Los Funcionarios Municipales y Personal de Manejo de Emergencias, Rescatadores Animales, Policía Municipal y Estatal, Técnicos de Veterinarios, Veterinarios, los Acusadores y cualquiera interesado en la protección y bienestar de los animales o la aplicación de la ley.

Usted aprenderá:

  • Los estatutos de Puerto Rico y las reglas que gobiernan acerca de rabia y control de animales domésticos, las leyes de crueldad a animales y la responsabilidad municipal para el control de animales..
  • El papel de un oficial de control de animales incluyendo, la extensión y los límites de la autoridad, responsabilidad educativa, la interacción con otras agencias, el transporte de animales, y las relaciones con la comunidad y medios.
  • Poder identificar la casta y la conducta del animal, las estrategias para tratar con gatos, perros, especies exóticas, los roedores y las mangostas.
  • El reconocimiento, control y la prevención de rabia y otras enfermedades zoonoticas.
  • Investigación que incluye: técnicas investigativas, identificar crueldad animal, observación y la percepción animal, identificar, reunir y preservar evidencia,  búsqueda en edificios y áreas, tomar notas y preparar informes investigativos, comunicación verbal y no verbal, técnicas de entrevista y principios de testimonio en tribunal.   
  • Entrenamiento y demostración del uso de equipo de control animal, agarraderas de gato y palos de mordeduras.
  • Establecer las operaciones estándares de un centro de control de animales, las políticas de adopción, eutanasia humana  y requisitos de reporte y disposición.
  • El sistema de Tribunales y sus procedimientos.

El curso será enseñado, en español, por expertos prominentes de Puerto Rico y Estados Unidos.

A la terminación del curso, usted obtendrá la certificación del Departamento de Salud del Estado Libre Asociado de Puerto Rico, la Universidad Interamericana y el Career Development Institute.

Animal Control Officer/
Cruelty Investigator Certification Course

This is the first course of its kind being offered in Puerto Rico. It has been designed to meet the particular issues of animal control and animal cruelty in Puerto Rico. This course has been approved by the Puerto Rico Health Department, and is a collaboration between Career Development Institute, Amigos de los Animales and the Interamerican University. Career Development Institute, based in the State of New Jersey, has trained and certified many thousands of Animal Control Officers and Animal Cruelty Investigators in the US.

So who should attend? Municipal employees and officials, Emergency Management Personnel, Animal rescuers, Municipal and State Police, Vet Techs, Veterinarians, Prosecutors, Lawyers and anyone interested in animal welfare and animal welfare law enforcement.

You will learn:

  • Puerto Rican statutes and rules governing rabies and control of domestic animals, animal cruelty laws and municipal responsibility for animal control.
  • The role of an animal control officer including, extent and limits of authority, educational responsibility, interaction with other agencies, transport of animals, community and media relations.
  • Animal behavior and breed recognition, strategies for dealing with cats, dogs, exotic species, rodents and mongoose.
  • Recognition and control and prevention of rabies and other zoonotic diseases
  • Investigation including investigative techniques, identifying animal cruelty, observation and perception, identifying, collecting and preserving evidence, search of buildings and areas, note taking and investigative report writing, verbal and non-verbal communication, interviewing techniques and principles of courtroom testimony.
  • Training and demonstration in the use of animal control equipment including rabies control poles, nets, humane traps, cat graspers and bite sticks.
  • Animal control center operations, model standards, adoption policies, humane euthanasia and reporting and disposal requirements.
  • The Court system and procedures..
